Islam: Moderation Versus Extremism

User Rating:  / 0
01Islam is a religion of moderation. It stands for the middle-path. It opposes every form of excess and extremism. Its principles and laws are based on a natural system of balance, appealing across cultural, ethnic and geographical boundaries. Some commandments of the Quran and the Prophet’s practice on the same issues appear, on the face of it, to be, in some cases, particularly forceful, and, in other cases, unexpectedly soft and flexible. This is because these Quranic verses and Hadith statements have their own particular background and context, addressing particular persons or groups. This is in accordance with the wisdom and demands of the Islamic missionary imperative and the needs of the law. As the noted jurist Allama Shatibi notes in his book Al- Moafaqat:

‘When you ponder on the principles of the shariah you will find that they stand for moderation. If you perceive them as leaning towards a certain extreme, you should know that this is in opposition to another existing or expected extreme. Thus, generally speaking, the aspect of forceful stressing [in some principles of the shariah] is related to the need for warning, or in order to instill fear, with regard to those people whose religion is faulty or who are lax in matters of religion. [On the other hand] is the aspect that inclines to grace, flexibility and hope, which is with regard to those who are overwhelmed by extremes and fears [in matters of religion]’ (Al-Moafaqat: 167/3).

The Prophet's Tolerance Towards Other Religions

shutterstock 96973319The dealings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) with other religions can best be described in the verse of the Quran:

{To you be your religion, to me be mine} (109: 6)

The Arabian Peninsula during the time of Prophet Muhammad was a region in which various faiths were present.

There were Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, polytheists, and others not affiliated with any religion. When one looks into the life of the Prophet, one may draw on many examples to portray the high level of tolerance shown to people of other faiths.

The relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims is no exception. The basic rule for relations between Muslims and non-Muslims is based on a few verses. The first can be translated as,

{We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy for the worlds} (Al-Anbiya' 21:107).

two-businessmen-shaking-hands-photo-AIt should be noted from the beginning that the very term Islam implies that peace is the basis and the norm of Muslim/non-Muslim relations. Islam is derived from the Arabic root S-L-M, whose generic meaning includes the concepts of peace and submission. From a spiritual perspective, Islam may be defined as attaining peace through submission to Allah or the state of peace in submission to Allah. Ample references in the Qur'an and Hadith reveal that this concept of peace embraces peace with God, inner peace as a result of that relationship with God, peace with humans, peace with the animal world, peace with vegetation, and peace with the ecological order.

Today I met Islam Magomadov, the inhabitant of the village Berdykel.
He was absent three months at home.
As it became clear he was in Syria, he went there, being deceived by conversations about Sacred war.
Islam said that he didn't see even small signs of jihad, war for belief, wars for justice.
According to his words, there is a war for country elimination in Syria, blasting its economy, defilement of religious shrines. Fighters blows up ziarats of associates of the Prophet (s.а.s.) and kills imams.
Also groups compete to each other on robberies, capturing of other's property.

korrupciyaCorruption is one of the worst predicaments that haunt many countries around the world. The abuse of power, authority and resources by governments and public servants hinders the progress of nations, alienates ordinary citizens and blocks them from investing in the development of their nations.

The ailment of corruption is something that, unfortunately, plagues many Islamic countries, and one cannot avoid raising this question: Why are these countries associated with corruption? Is it because they are "Islamic" countries?  Is there anything in the Islamic culture that nurtures corruption?

buhari"Allah says, 'I am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him when he remembers me. If he thinks of Me, I think of him. If he mentions Me in company, I mention him in an even better company. When he comes closer to Me by a handspan, I come closer to him an arm's length. If he draws closer to Me by an arm's length, I draw closer by a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him. If my servant comes to Me walking, I go to him running."(Al-Bukhari)

Streaming out of these words is a sense of the love Allah has for His servants and the special relationship they can have with Him. How inspiring it is that you can remember Allah at any moment and immediately have a connection with the Heavens, because He will remember you in that same instant. If you mention His name in front of people, He will mention you by name in the company of the angels.

The Prophet’s Care for Children

User Rating:  / 0

Children are a great blessing from Allah. With their tender hearts, children can be molded into righteous people only with a positive and tender approach. Islam considers children to be an amanah (trust) given to the family and says it is fard (obligatory) for the family to raise a child in a righteous manner.

One should not favor one child over another. In Islam, both male and female children should be treated equally and should be loved and cherished. The children have certain rights over their parents; it is the family’s obligation to shelter, feed, clothe, educate, support, nurture, and love them.
