The religious centers will work during the Olympic Games in Sochi

article6The meeting of Interreligious council of Russia took place on July 17 in a conference room of Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Organizing Committee Sochi 2014”, devoted to the organization work of the religious centers in the Olympic villages during the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014.

According to press service of Interreligious council of Russia, the chairman of Department of the Moscow Patriarchy on relationship of Church and society and the archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the chief rabbi of Russia Adolf Shayevich, the vice-president of Council of muftis of Russia Harris Saubyanov, the vice-president of the Congress of the Jewish religious communities and the organizations of Russia, the rabbi Zinoviy Kogan took part in meeting.

Also there were a vice-chairman of TsDUM of Russia Artur Suleymanov, the plenipotentiary of the Coordination center of Muslims of the North Caucasus in Moscow, the chairman of the board of Fund of support of Islamic culture, science and education Shafig Pshikhachev, the acting vice-chairman of Department of the Moscow Patriarchy on relationship of Church and society the deacon Roman Bogdasarov, representatives of Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Organizing Committee Sochi 2014” and the All-Russian exhibition center.

The question of participation of priests representatives of traditional religions of Russia and volunteers-religiovedov in work of prayful visits of the religious centers at the forthcoming Olympic Games in Sochi was discussed at meeting. Also the questions of development of the program of training of volunteers, carrying out congress of volunteers and preparation of the edition of the brochure on ethics of interreligious dialogue were considered.
Members of Interreligious council of Russia expressed need of close cooperation of representatives of traditional religions of Russia within the organization and work of the religious centers in the Olympic villages.
